Day 2 at AHIP Institute 2015
At breakfast again this morning for “Innovative Data Modeling of Real-Time Clinical Data To Improve Quality and Care Measures.” Somesh Nigam, PhD, SVP and Chief Informatics Officer, Independence Blue Cross, is on the agenda a second time! Then, a couple more press meetings with Frank Ingari before “Persona-Based Population Health Analytics” with panelists Jay Rajda, MD, Medical Director, Aetna Innovation Labs, and Bob Gladden, Vice President, Center for Analytics, CareSource.
In “A New Wave of Telehealth—and What’s Coming Next,” Jason Gorevic, Chief Executive Officer, Teladoc, Inc., and Richard Feifer, MD, MPH, Chief Medical Officer and National Medical Director for National Accounts, Aetna, will discuss a new research study that analyzed key telehealth user data revealing important user patterns and insights for health plans to consider as they design their programs. Teladoc is a partner of Oscar Health, one of our customer-partners. My colleague-friend Beth Cappucci, Director of Sales, will attend panelist Erhardt H. L. Preitauer’s (President, Horizon New Jersey Health; Senior Vice President, Government Programs, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey) “Innovative Products and Strategies for Medicaid Populations.” It is critical that we leverage best practices in this vital government-funded area.
I heard former President Bill Clinton speak at HIMSS13, so I’m taking the time to debrief with some customers and analysts before trekking back to Boston. As AHIP Institute 2015 comes to a close, one of the key themes I heard over and over again was the rise of consumerism in healthcare. Conference speakers discussed ways to make interactions with health insurance companies more consumer-friendly and ways to improve the overall member experence.
